Gilimanuk is a village located in Melaya sub-district, Jembrana Regency, Bali, Indonesia. In this village there is the Gilimanuk Port which serves ferry ferries to Ketapang Port, East Java. In this area there is also a bay named Karang Sewu.
According to folklore that around 1920, Gilimanuk, which is known today is still a stretch of wilderness which is only inhabited by various types of wildlife, among them the most are various types of birds such as White Starling, Perkutut and others. The people from Java at that time they called the place by the name of Tanjung Selat, on the contrary the Balinese who came to that place they called the name Ujung.
